PROcEED: Probabilistic reverse dosimetry approaches for estimating exposure distributions
نویسندگان
چکیده
UNLABELLED As increasing amounts of biomonitoring survey data become available, a new discipline focused on converting such data into estimates of chemical exposures has developed. Reverse dosimetry uses a pharmacokinetic model along with measured biomarker concentrations to determine the plausible exposure concentrations-- a critical step to incorporate ground-truthing experimental data into a distribution of probable exposures that reduces model uncertainty and variability. At the population level, probabilistic reverse dosimetry can utilize a distribution of measured biomarker concentrations to identify the most likely exposure concentrations (or intake doses) experienced by the study participants. PROcEED is software that provides access to probabilistic reverse dosimetry approaches for estimating exposure distributions via a simple user interface. AVAILABILITY PROcEED along with installation instructions is freely available for download from http://www.epa.gov/heasd/products/proceed/proceed.html.

As public concern mounts over exposures to ionizing radiation stemming from environmental releases of radionuclides following nuclear accidents, there is a growing need to develop reliable techniques that reconstruct exposures and doses to individuals. Especially in situations where conventional dosimeters were not in place at the time of facing to radiation exposure. In order to provide guidan...
متن کاملDEVELOPMENT OF A PHYSIOLOGICALLY BASED TOXICOKINETIC MODEL FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE RISK ASSESSMENT OF METHYLENE DIPHENYL DIISOCYANATE(MDI)
Introduction: Given the lack of a developed physiologically based toxicokinetic (PBTK) model for human systemic exposure assessment of methylene diisocyanate (MDI) and prediction of its urinary metabolites, this study aims to develop a PBTK model for exposure risk assessment of MDI. Methods and Materials: In this study, to assess the potential exposure to the MDI, a PBTK model was constructed ...
متن کاملEvaluation of a fast method of EPID-based dosimetry for IMRT and Comparison with 3D EPID-based dosimetry system using conventional two- and three-dimensional detectors for VMAT
Introduction: Electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) could potentially be useful for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and VMAT QA. The data density, high resolution, large active area, and efficiency of the MV EPID make it an attractive option. However, EPIDs were designed as imaging devices, not dosimeters, and as a result they do not inherently measure dose in ...
متن کاملStructural Properties of the Generalized Dirichlet Distributions
We study the general structure of the generalized Dirichlet distributions, deriving general formulas for the marginal and conditional probability density functions of those distributions. We develop the multivariate reverse rule properties of these distributions, apply those properties to derive probability inequalities, and derive stochastic representations and orderings for the distributions....
متن کاملAdvances in Inhalation Dosimetry Models and Methods for Occupational Risk Assessment and Exposure Limit Derivation
The purpose of this article is to provide an overview and practical guide to occupational health professionals concerning the derivation and use of dose estimates in risk assessment for development of occupational exposure limits (OELs) for inhaled substances. Dosimetry is the study and practice of measuring or estimating the internal dose of a substance in individuals or a population. Dosimetr...
